...and there was NO business at UW-Parkside today because classes were canceled! Basic services like police and food service continued for students who reside on campus.
Can you believe this? First 70 degrees in January and now almost 20 inches of snow in February? Today we had thunder-snow (yes, there really is such a thing)! We had visibility down to 1/2 block in some places and when it's all said and done we should have 18-20 inches on the ground - that's not counting the 5 foot high snow drift that greeted me this afternoon when I opened my garage door!
I'm sure the students on campus had fun today! Back when I was a UW-P student we'd have big snowball fights and people would construct massive snow forts (unlike anything you have ever seen), and every once and a while you'd see something that looked like a Parkside Cafe tray whiz by you with a student riding on it down the hill outside the University Apartments. It was one of those things you hope you have at least once a winter when you live on campus because a day of snowball fights, snow forts and sledding on the first big snow is something of a tradition at Parkside during the first BIG snowstorm of the season. I'm sure I'll hear fun stories tomorrow from our students when I get back into the office tomorrow!
See you on the road, or digging out of the snow!
