...because our Office of Admissions has been so extremely busy!
We're hoppin' this fall!
The folks in Student Records/Registrars, Financial Aid, Advising, Residence Life, Student Activities... (forgive me if I'm forgetting anyone), but many people are working EXTREMELY hard to get everything in place for Fall 2008.
Since I returned to work August 4th, it's been a flurry of activity - and I love it. What will make it better will be the students back on campus and first portion of the new student center opening up... just under 2 weeks and counting!
Many people assume that at the end of the summer our job is done and we have a period of down-time sin
ce our freshman class is about to come in and high schools are not in full-session yet (for us to visit). Actually, August is the busiest time of year (in-office)!
I have to say, my colleagues in admissions are some of the hardest working people in the University - they're taking walk-in and scheduled appointments, assisting students with enrollment-related questions, meeting with academic departments to get updates, and training/organizing our Campus Ambassadors. Plus, we're offering more opportunities than ever for students to visit this
fall (just click that link above!). Our fall semester tour schedule
(led by Campus Ambassadors) will be up soon. Right now we're putting final touches on various types of opportunities for prospective students to visit this fall - so VISIT US! ...and Marv holds the fort down at the front desk - his phone never stops ringing. Joe, Louise and Billie are processing fanatics - turning applications out in record time. Linda is keepin' the office in order, helping us order items to keep us operating, getting our storage ready for our new view-books and materials!
Oh yeah - and I forgot... OUR COLLEGE FAIRS! You'll see our counselors everywhere this fall! We're attending more college fairs this year than ever as well too! When we have the complete list I'll post it - we're still receiving late invites, so when the final schedule for our counselors is done I'll post it here.
See you on the road... soon!
