Hello All! Tomorrow is going to be a night for envisioning yourself in the future and putting it on paper! We are going to be making VISION BOARDS so you have something to look at to remind you why you are here and where everything you are doing is going to lead you! I'm super excited to see all of you at 4pm tomorow night in Ranger Hall Room 47 (basement classroom)! See you then!
Hello Everyone! Mandy here. I am writing because no one came to our first program last week. I realized that the time or night may not have worked. Please let me know when would work better for you. Some ideas would be 6pm Mondays-Thursdays OR noon on Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Please let me know. This Community is for you. I will try my best to make it work!
Tonight at 4pm in Room 47 of Ranger Hall (classroom in the basement), I will be doing a workshop about who we are and who we want to be, how we get there, and steps we can start taking to do so. It will be fun and interactive!
Come to my program this Thursday, September 13th from 4-5pm in the Computer Lab of Ranger Hall and take an assessment to find out your learning style! We will then discuss how to take what you learned about your learning style and apply it to your courses you are in now and maybe a major, minor or certificate that you would be interested in.
This will also be a good opportunity to come and talk to me about your courses, how you are liking it here at UW-Parkside, and what I can do to help you succeed this year!
I am your Academic Advisor, Mandy Metzger. I will be working with you through the Exploration Living-Learning Community housed in Ranger Hall! I thought for this first post, I would introduce myself, first, and then the program.
I am currently in my third year here as an Academic Advisor in the Academic Advising and Career Center (located in Wyllie D175). I have by Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, Health Education and Adapted Physical Education and my Master of Science in Education in Counselor Education - Student Services from the University of Wisconsin - Platteville. I started Academic Advising at UW-Platteville while in Graduate School and loved it! I love having new challenges and helping college students every day! I am very energetic, a good listener and problem solver. I hope you all come and visit me - to just say hi or for anything else you may need someone for!
The Exploration Living-Learning Community provides a way for you, as students, to network with other students who live near you about majors, minors, certificate programs and careers of interest to you. We will do this by creating programs throughout the year focusing on these things and more so that hopefully, by your second semester, you have narrowed your major choices to a few options and are well on your way to declaring and getting into the subject areas which you enjoy!
Please, come to as many events as you can! We will have fun exploring UW-Parkside and all it has to offer, together!
Last day to drop a class with signed authorization from instructor, department chair and dean (approved only for extraordinary, non-academic reasons). Visit The Advising and Career Center for informational and assistance.
