Does anybody else but me watch YouTube? There's a lot of interesting (do not confuse interesting with good, or of social value) stuff out there. Here's something one of my fellow mascots posted a while back. Why am I just posting it now. Actually, it's because this sportswriter dude at UW-Madison Andy VanSistine, with the Daily Cardinal, I think, wrote about lame mascots. When I saw his story I sent him the link.

Women's basketball -- tomorrow afternoon, 4:30 p.m. Ranger Time (CST), the Rangers battle Northern Kentucky in Kentucky with the GLVC East Division lead on the line. Both teams enter the game with two losses. The Rangers have 13 victories and Northern Kentucky has 12. Catch the game on the Internet -- go to parksiderangers.com and click on Game Day.

Men's basketball -- while the victories have been tough to come by, LaVontay Fenderson continues to lead the nation -- the US of A -- America the Beautiful -- Red State/Blue State -- in scoring (http://web1.ncaa.org/stats/StatsSrv/rankings). LaVontay and crew will be on the Internet tomorrow at about 6:30 Ranger Time. If you don't have the the World Wide Net, catch the game on WRJN 1400 AM at about 9 Ranger Time.

I was driving down the road this weekend (well, actually, I wasn't driving ... we've discussed this flaw in the Wisconsin legal system before ... a flaw that prohibits "animals" from obtaining a driver's license ... but I do have wheels and some very generous folks who get me where I need to be ... oh, yeah, I got peeps!).

Annnnnywho, we're driving along and there on back of the car in front of us is ... ME. MY FACE IN THE TRAILER HITCH OF AN SUV -- or are they crossovers?.

Well, off course I had to know how my face got there in the trailer hitch of this SUV -- or crossover. So we politely cut the guy off and force him into the ditch. No one was injured. At first he was pretty steamed ... then he saw who had forced him off the road, realized I was the same "person" who he had in his trailer hitch, and things were cool.

To make a long story even longer, he's got kids that go here, he tells me he got this trailer hitch filler thing at the UW-Parkside Campus Bookstore. Now I know that the Bookstore moved from Wyllie to the new Student Center so I hot foot it down there and ... HOLY MO-LY ... there I am, all over all sorts of stuff. Shirts, sweatshirts, hats, gloves, T-shirts, glasses, mugs, blankets -- even a FLAG!

Well sir, you could have knocked me over with a feather. Howie Cohen, the Bookstore manager, told me stuff with my face on it has been selling real well -- I guess that's a good thing.

So if you haven't been in the new bookstore, get there RIGHT NOW and buy something with my face on it.

Tell 'em I sent you.

What a week ...

Coach Jenny hits 100!
Congrats to women's basketball coach Jenny Kenesie on her 100th victory as a head coach. The women continue to roll through the GLVC, next chance to catch them at home is Thursday at 5:30 against St. Joseph's College. Can't be at the game, catch 'em on the web -- you'll find the link on the UW-P athletics page.

How's the view, 'Vontay?
LaVontay Fenderson is back atop the scoring leaders in DII nationwide. LF and the Rangers are home Thursday night at 7:30 against SJC.

Time Warner Sports will be on campus Thursday night to tape the men's and women's games for broadcast later in the week. I'll be there, I gotta get some face time on the tube!

Speaking of face time, our head basketball coaches Jenny Kenesie and Luke Reigel will be featured on the Dennis Krause Show this week. If you have Time Warner Cable, you can catch the DK Show on channel 32.

The Dennis Krause Show, broadcast on Time Warner Sports, channel 32 on the Time Warner Cable system, features UW-Parkside head basketball coaches Jenny Kenesie and Luke Reigel, beginning Monday, Feb. 9, at 5 p.m.

During a recent home game, staff from the Dennis Krause show spent time before and during the game with each coach to create “a-day-with” segment. Broadcast times for the week of Feb. 2 are Monday, 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.; Tuesday, 7 a.m., 3 p.m. and 11 p.m.; Wednesday, 6:30 a.m. and 10 p.m.; Thursday, 6:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 9 p.m. and 11 p.m.; Friday, 5:30 a.m., 4 p.m. and 10 p.m,; Saturday, 5:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.; and Sunday 8:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m., 9 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

The show will also air the week of Feb. 16. That schedule will be released later this week.

Thanks alums ... hello, ALL!

The Sixth Person!

Is fan support overrated? If you ask members of the Parkside women's basketball team, I think you'll hear a resounding NO! A great crowd was on hand Saturday when the Rangers defeated Northern Kentucky. The Norse were rated second in the country coming into the game. Plenty of fan support helped in the victory. Way to go Rangers!!

The men gave the Norse all they wanted for most of Saturday's game. Northern Kentucky is ranked No. 11 in the nation. The score was close at the half, but NKY extended its lead down the stretch. Hey, that reminds me of the way they call horse races ... AND DOWNNNNNN THE STRETCH THEY COME!

Technology, ya gotta luv it!

I have never really thought about having more experienced people reading my blog. But there are lots of folks out there who have forgotten more about the important points of life than most of us know (did that come out right?).

Some of them are members of ALL (Adventures in Lifelong Learning). I have a couple of friends who are helping the UW-Parkside ALL group explore and embrace new technologies. The common denominator for ALL ... they just love to learn. Ya gotta wonder, though, if all those kids on Facebook and MySpace will really keep posting all that stuff once they realize that grandma grandpa are tuning in.
