I've been a bad bear

Remember when I told you about going to the Chamber of Commerce Business After 5 last week, well something happened that night that has come back to bite me -- actually, it's not so much something biting me as it is me biting something ... or someone. Doug DeVinny had a glass of milk that looked really refreshing. I was thirsty. I asked him -- no, I didn't really ask him, I just grabbed for the glass. He pushed me away and it looks like I'm biting him -- no, I did bite him. If you have read about my background -- I think it's on the Admissions website -- you know that my formative years were spent with a circus. Seriously, my mother and I were circus performers. I lack some of the social graces needed for these type of events. But I promise, from now on, no more biting -- I'll be more careful. Kinda funny though, he tasted like chicken.

Takin' care of business

I got invited to a very cool event last night -- a Kenosha Chamber of Commerce Business After 5. At first, I didn't get it, most stores close at 5. I ended up hangin' with the movers 'n shakers for a while. The photo with me and the young gentleman, Mark Sabljak ... he's the publisher of the Business Journal. We got to know each other about a year ago in Milwaukee -- been pretty close since then -- each year the Business Journal hosts this big ol' shindig for ... ya know I really don't even know how you get an invite, but I got one -- I was on some list. That was before I started blogging. Maybe I can dig up one of the old photos.
Anyway, the other picture ... ya, I know the picture looks small CLICK ON IT! OK now we're talkin'. The young woman on your right (my left) is Terri, she's a VIP at the Chamber. And on my right (your left) that's her sister ... it was a very nice evening.Chamber_event_2

Happy Thanksgiving!

Ranger Bear will be out of the office for the next few days visiting family. Because he's in the woods, he will not be able to respond to questions or inquiries. His family was going to have HughesNet satellite broadband installed, but for some reason they scared off the installation technician.

What a weekend!

Finally dragged my furry butt out of the den this morning -- after this weekend, I was beat. How 'bout those Rangers!!! The men and women kicked a bunch 'o Michigan Tech and Lake Superior State booty. Great to see, and it was great to see you guys at the games.  How 'bout the women Friday night when Smags hits the 3-ball from the corner -- right after the refs give MT a five-point play. THAT was a big shot. Ranger Bear's Shot of the Weekend!! Can't wait for the next game.

Hey this week is my favorite holiday. I luv Thanksgiving. I luv to eat. Have a good one!!

The photo album is here!

For all of you who have patiently waited -- and for those of you who have not so patiently waited (Christy) -- THE PHOTO ALBUM IS HERE -- Rangers in Milwaukee! Do you like the title? I came up with it. Check it out.

Where's the photo album

Christy: Thanks for the marvelous question. Where is the photo album? Well, it's in production. I could go into a lot of technical mumbo-jumbo about RAW files vs. jpeg and bridge functions in Photoshop vs. Nikon Capture. Buts lets just say that ... it's in production. I'll check with my friends in University Graphics to see what's shakin'!

What a game!

OK, the final score wasn't in the Rangers favor last night, but it was a great game and from all the hugs and high-fives I got, I think Ranger Nation had quite a time in Milwaukee.

Before I get too far ahead of myself, I have to tell you about meeting Pounce -- the UWM mascot. The dude is cool. He said he read my blog and knew that I was just talkin' a little trash before the game. I didn't realize we have the same tailor.

There should be a new photo album up from the game later today or on Monday. Stay tuned and goooooooo Rangers!

Call from Pounce

Right in the middle of an important meeting with Keating, my cell rings. Private number. So I tell Keating, "Hold that thought, I gotta grab this." Guess who? Pounce - the new UWM, UW-Milwaukee, Milwaukee Panthers mascot. He says, "Hi, this is Pounce." I say, "Pounce? Pounce who?" He says, Pounce the Panther at UWM, UW-Milwaukee." I say,"OHHHHHHHHH Pounce ... how ya doin'?" He goes into some chit chat about his sister and this cat from Illinois -- whatever. Finally gets down to it. He wants to know how many Rangers are comin' to the game tonight. He says, "Do you have a bus?" I say, "We're bringin' three buses!" He hangs up.

See ya in the Brew City! Go Rangers!!!

My apologies to Victor E.

If you look down a couple of posts on this blog, you'll notice that I kinda somewhat ripped on my old pal Victor E. Panther (not returning phone calls, not writing about the Rangers' victory last season). Now I find out -- why do I even have people -- that Victor E. graduated. I'm not sure he graduated from UWM, but sources say he graduated. Soooooo, congrats Victor E. on your graduation. Sorry I called ya out.

Now for the fun part -- Victor E.'s replacement ... you're gonna luv this ... Pounce. Yep, Pounce. I don't even know exactly what to say. Granted, I never met this cat (I'm sure we'll cross paths tomorrow night -- I'll be cool) but if my given name was Pounce Panther or Pounce the Panther or Pounce Whatever, I would seriously think about changing my name.

Have you signed up for the bus trip? If not ... DO IT!

See ya tomorrow!

Who picked up the tab???

Boys and girls, even if I had been at Trader Vic's (Kratochvil's comment) and even if I had had one or two too many Shirley Temples, I can say with some degree of uncertainty that Steve Kratochvil did not pick up the check. If anything, the refreshments were probaby "comped" once I was recognized.
