Thanks!

I am thankful for so many things in my life, and in the context of UW-P there are a number of things for which I am grateful!

Of course, I'm thankful for the education I received (and continue to receive...for we truly are lifelong learners!).  It was an interesting and challenging curriculum that has prepared me well for all of my endeavors.

I'm thankful for the opportunities (read:  doors!) that UW-P has provided (and continues to provide!).

I'm thankful for the people...SO many UW-P people!

This year...I want to thank everyone who has been a part of my alumni success...the alumni, without whom I wouldn't have a job (sounds like an Oscar speech!)...thanks for keeping in touch, reading the magazine, supporting our events, being a constant cheerleader for UW-P....

You know who you are if you had anything to do with the basketball game last January, the annual meeting, the Fourth of July Parade (especially if you gave us a big cheer when we passed through...and you did!), the Casino Night event, Commencement, Fall Fest (Yes, you...the Schweder Fam!) and the list goes on.  I have to mention the alumni who I run into ALL THE TIME!  Thanks for letting me jump around in excitement when we meet!  Thanks for coming out to campus...to show your daughter where you went to college, to visit faculty and staff, to speak with the current students...THANK YOU!  Thanks for watching this website (stay tuned, new stuff is coming!) and for letting us know when things change...addresses, jobs....and when you have new successes!  Thanks for checking in...to let me know you too appreciated your UW-P experience (it really is more than just an education, isn't it!?) and for offering to come to campus to talk to students (Benjamin!) or to provide a service (Michelle!)...Thank YOU!

Thanks for making such a good choice...Thanks for choosing UW-P!  We're glad you did!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I will not talk about foliage...honest!

We just completed another round of Senior Send Off!  This is something we do each semester, to help our seniors celebrate and prepare for Graduation!  It's an exciting time to mingle with students I've known for a long time, who have worked hard, and grown!

What's my message to them?

You are about to become a member of the Alumni Association (complimentary, of course)

We will keep in touch with you (via Perspective magazine, and other avenues)

Stay in touch with us (we want to continue to celebrate your achievements and hope you will continue to participate at UW-Parkside!)

CONGRATULATIONS!

(An extra congrats to Adetokunbo, who won the UW-P flash drive from our drawing!)

UW-ARTside

How exciting...BOTH artists featured in the Kenosha Public Museum East Gallery exhibits are UW-P alumni!  It's really not all that uncommon!  Our Art grads make up much of the art scene in Racine and Kenosha...and beyond!  Our artists are Everywhere!

So, I stopped down to view the exhibits of Eric Houghton '98 and Lois Mogensen '72!  Great stuff!  This will be up through November 9, so stop by and check it out.  Christine Sikora '78 is showing her paintings at Lemon Street Gallery (which was started by an alumna!) right now also.  These will be on display until November 25.

There is really no end to the UW-Parkside art that surrounds us...our kid's art teachers, the instructors of enrichment workshops, the fine art displayed around (even in major motion pictures I might add!).  We even have 'our own' teaching our future alumni!  It all comes full circle!  (Don't start singing the Circle of Life...you'll never get Elton out of your head!).

I won't even go on about our Art faculty (who currently have an exhibition in the UW-P Gallery...they have their talents and unique visions on display now through Nov. 21, 2007. The exhibit allows patrons to experience the artistry of the men and women shaping the art world's next generation. [See!]) and how we are surrounded by their talents...not just in the People that I mentioned above, but how excited was I that some of David Holme's fun and intriguing murals grace the walls of my son's new school!?!

Anyway...UW-P is a beautiful place in and of itself (Sorry!  I was really going to Not mention the physical landscape...or the gorgeous fall leaves changing color, but I just Had to!) but thanks to UW-P, the beauty is spread around for all to enjoy!

Take some time to enjoy UW-P's art...at the galleries, museums, schools, on campus, via our website, in movies...Everywhere!
