Sneak Peek

WHOA!

I got a preview of the inside of the Union for the first time in many months and I am Amazed!  It is going to be FANTASTIC!  You can see some pics on the web at http://slife.uwp.edu/union_renovate/ to get a glimpse of what is to come. 

Parts of the building will be put in to use starting in early August and the full blown opening should occur in January 2009!  This is NOT the Union you once knew...and it's a good thing!  I hope you'll check it out in person to be dazzled!

Awaken the Dragon

For anyone interested in cheering on the UWP team in the Great Midwest Dragon Boat Festival in Racine, the races are on Saturday, July 12th, and we are in:

Race # 9 at 10:24 AM -- Scheduled for lane 2

        and

Race # 23 at 2:24 PM -- Scheduled for lane 1

UW-P will have a tent in the team area, if you'd like to stop by and visit between races.

Setting the Record Straight

Happy 4th of July!

Wow!  Did we have fun in the parade!  Ranger Bear is quite a star! 

I have to say, there are a few confused people out there and it's our job to help them...NO, he is not "Teddy Bear", "Yogi Bear", "Smokey", "Gentle Ben", "Buddy Bear", "Bubba" or just "Bear".  I'm also confused when I hear  "Is that a bear?".  I think he pretty clearly looks like a bear!  But, that doesn't mean I want to hear "Go Bears" either!  Have to be careful with that!  But, the cutest had to be the kid who growled back at RB and said he was a ninja cat!!!  Watch out!

It was too fun seeing all the UW-P supporters -- friends, family, faculty, staff --  out there.  Lots of alums too!  Some of you I recognized, but maybe couldn't get the name.  Here are some of the folks I spotted this year:  Janet D, Chris E, Casey J, Dawne and Jenna B, Tony K, Kathy B and her contingent!,  Marty (who tried to hide!), Steve K, Cortnie P, Jimmy B, Gwen M, Karen G, Nick and Julie S and their new baby, Steve Mc, Vicki B, Franca and Tim K, Don and Linda P and many more!

Thanks for the cheers!  And, cheers to a fun 4th weekend!

**Note:  Unfortunately, we won't be in the Kenosha Parade this year.  Due to the change in coordinators for the event, our application got lost in the shuffle so we didn't make the line up.  We'll be back next year!

On a Quest

Today I'm all business!

I'm always looking for fun, interesting things to include in Perspective magazine.  We're thinking about adding information about weddings and babies...the catch is that both of the people getting married have to be UW-Parkside alums.  Likewise, the babies have to be from alumni parents!   

Is this you...or do you know of someone?  Please submit so I can start filling an upcoming issue (one is in process so this will be for fall/winter...and beyond).
